We Made It!!

Phew!! We made it through the weekend!! Steve is now safely back at home, and will be here when I go into labor. I am very thankful. I have been doing a lot of praying about Steve being here when this baby comes. And I am now giving my thank yous!! I don't think it is going to be long now. Stuff is starting to happen. I don't know what it is, but I know it doesn't feel so good. I don't have a lot of pain or anything. But, something is different and I don't love it. I really don't know what it means. But, I don't think it will be long now. I don't really know what I think about that. Other than, "Oh Crap!" Yep, I think that sums it up.

Weekly Doctor Visit #2

Has it been a week already? Well, almost. I saw the doctor again today. And thankfully, I lost 2 lbs this visit!! Thank goodness. I don't think I could take another big gain after only 6 days. Anyway, all is still well. I am now dilated to 2. So, things are progressing. I am feeling different now. Especially tonight, after the exam. I feel crampy. I was a little concerned becasue Steve is leaving for California tonight. He will be gone until Sunday. His brother, Ben is getting married on Saturday. I, of course, can't go. So, I was worried about making it through the weekend. But, the dr. said that she thinks I will make it. She said that she thinks that I will make it to my next appointment, but that might be it. She doesn't think that I will make it to my due date, 10/13. I would just like to keep him in until the 2nd week of October. That is only a week and a half away. So, hopefully he is feeling pretty cozy. My dad is coming to stay with me this weekend. I think he wanted to see me one more time before I have the baby. This worked out to be a good weekend for him. So, now I won't be alone. My mom offered to come, too. They are so nice to do that. So, I am looking forward to my weekend, and I am going to do my best not to have a baby. :O)

We Bored Them to Labeling!

The kids came this weekend. And their little sister Sarah came with them. The kids said she has been wanting to come with them for a while now. I think she thought it was going to be fun. But as you can see, we were so boring that the kids resorted to labeling us all with Caleb's label maker. :O) It actually was pretty funny. They even labeled my gigantic belly "Baby". (Poor guy still has no name) They really had a good time doing it. They laughed the whole time. I think some of Steve's underpants got a label, too. I don't think he knows that yet. That was Caleb's little surprise for him. I think it is pretty funny!!

Steve's Blog

So, we decided that it would be a good idea for Steve to have his own little section to post Steve Stuff. He hasn't done anything yet. But, he will soon. Here is his link.

Weekly Doctor Visit #1

I went to the first of my weekly doctor appointments yesterday afternoon. Everything is going very well. Except for the fact that I gained 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I didn't even know that was possible. Geez. No wonder so many people told me that I looked like I got bigger last weekend. I DID!!! My blood pressure did go up a little bit this time, so the Dr. said that they will have to keep an eye on that. He said that he estimates the baby to be somewhere between 5 and 6 lbs right now. So, he thinks he might be around 7 lbs when he is born, if he waits 4 more weeks. I must have looked disappointed when he said that, because he looked at me funny and asked if I was hoping for bigger. Well, shoot.....I gained 6 lbs in 2 weeks!!!! I guess I was just looking for a better reason for that crap!!! But no, I am not disappointed. I will be disappointed in nothing as long as he is healthy and safe. (or the epidural doesn't work out for some reason) He said that I am dialated to 1. So, things are happening. That was easy enough. I haven't had any contractions or anything. At least, I don't think I have. Maybe that is a sign of how easy my labor will be!! :O) Yes, absolute denial, I know. I like it here in my little make believe world, OK!!!!! :O)

So, we will just have to wait and see what the next couple of weeks have in store. Here we go!

Is He Doing What I Think He's Doing?

Yep! He sure is. He is reading a book to my dog. Do you think Steve is ready for his baby boy, or what? :O) Steve has this thing about books. One day, he will think of a book or character from a book that he loved when he was a kid. (randomly, of course. As he is the King of random thoughts) Then he thinks about it, and he talks about it, and he looks it up on line, and he thinks about some more. Finally, he will go out and get it for the kids. Well, the last book on his mind has been Ferdinand the Bull. He has been talking about this book for months now. He just hasn't gone looking for it. He found it tonight and bought it. So, he had to come home and read it to someone. And in case you missed my last post, I don't fit as nicely on the couch with him anymore. So, poor Ashy had to endure a few pages. Is he super cute? Or is he a super geek? I think the answer is YES!

I love that super cute super geek! :O)

Can I Really Get any Bigger?

I am really beginnig to worry here. My stomach has really grown in the past couple of weeks. I went to work today, and 3 different people told me that I got a lot bigger over the weekend. How kind of them! My boss told me not to go home and get bigger tonight. He's a man. Not much of a surprise there. Luckily, I do not get my feelings hurt by this. Because really, I think I got a lot bigger this weekend. Man oh man. I have heard lots of women say that just when they think they are stretched to the limit, they grow more. It is amazing to me. I really don't know how much bigger I can get. But, I still have 4 weeks left. I think I am going to fall over forward. The baby is very active, too. He doesn't realize that there isn't room for those acrobats anymore. He just pushes stuff around. I am not so sure that stuff is supposed to be moving. It hurts. Being pregnant is quite an experience. I must say, though, that I really have loved it.

The Crib is up.

I put the crib together this afternoon. It doesn't have the matress or bedding in yet. But, it is together. It hurt, but I am happy that it is done. I don't quite know how it is going to fit in there. But, we'll work it out. I also learned how to properly install the car seat. I think. I still don't know how to adjust the straps, though. I'll get there. Here's the crib.

Yummy Turkey Bolognese

Since Steve doesn't eat red meat anymore, I am always on the look out for new non red meat recipes. I heard about this Giada recipe on the radio one morning. So, I decided to look it up and try it. It was really easy and really good. You should try it.

Turkey Bolognese
Recipe courtesy Giada De Laurentiis
Show:
Everyday Italian
Episode:
Thanksgiving Leftovers
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 carrot, peeled and finely chopped
1 celery stalk, finely chopped
1 pound shredded cooked turkey (preferably dark meat)-- (I used ground turkey this time)
3 cups marinara sauce
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 pound spaghetti
Freshly grated Parmesan

Heat the oil in a heavy large frying pan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and saute until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the carrot and celery and saute until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. Add the turkey and saute 1 minute. Add the marinara sauce. Decrease the heat to medium-low and simmer gently for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend, stirring often. Stir in the basil. Season the sauce, to taste, with salt and pepper. (The sauce can be made 1 week ahead. Cool the sauce completely, then transfer it to a container and freeze for future use. Bring the sauce to a simmer before using.) Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in a large pot of boiling salted water until just tender but still firm to bite, stirring often, about 8 minutes. Drain, reserving 1 cup of the cooking liquid. Add the pasta to the sauce and toss to coat, adding enough reserved cooking liquid to moisten as needed. Serve with the Parmesan
